The event was a huge success! The competitions were entertaining to the fellow Starcraft fans and the pun towards World of Warcraft was hilarious from time to time. The likes of Starcraft impressions were a great way to the lift the moods of the crowd anxious about the release and a great way to break the ice with amazing prizes also being given away. Then came the anticipated cosplay which was so fun to watch! Dedicated starcraft fans dressed as their favourite character for the chance to win a Dell gaming laptop. A well deserved win for the unusual Pylon costume. Who would have thought to dress as a building than a character. A commendation to go to the Infested Kerrigan costume in which it looks like so much work went into it however, technicalities denied her the win. The last feature before the launch was a Question & Answer session with Blizzard Producer Kaeo Miller. This was a great way to find out any queries roaming around which was very beneficial for the fans. One useful word was the fact that Australia has the luxury of having a licence to play online on both the new Australian (SEA) servers and also with the North American servers which is a great announcement on the night.
Many prizes were given away including posters, snacks, magazines, starcraft 2 boxes and autographs were signed be Kaeo once the launch had been initiated.
Overall the night was a huge success, no crazy fans rushing through the line, everyone was in a great mindset focussed on grabbing the game and heading home, and the event went smoothly which is a great example for Australia's first big launch from Blizzard in Australia. Hopefully we will see many launches in our home town once again. Below are some of the images I have taken on the night. Enjoy and happy Gaming!!!
